This book looks at how the railways developed trade through investing in and building docks and creating a shipping fleet that traded throughout Western Europe. Illustrated with photographs, maps and plans the development of the docks at Grimsby and Immingham are extensively covered as is New Holland and the proposed dock at Sutton on Sea. The shipping fleet, including the Humber Ferries, is listed and complemented with photographs. The final chapter covers the Immingham trams with extensive photographic coverage along the entire length of the line.
