This volume contrasts the development of railways in Corsica (always metre gauge) with that of Sardinia (initially standard gauge, later a mixture including the odd 950mm). Part 1 (80 pages) is a general railway history of the two islands; Part 2 (120pp) is a ‘Technical History’. A good number of location and route maps, and station track plans are provided. Six appendices (64 pages) include lists of stock, statistics, and 30 pages of useful scale drawings of locos, railcars etc. Several hundred photographic illustrations include 45 in colour. Ancillary industrial railways and tramways are briefly summarised.
