Description
Due to their location behind the Iron Curtain, Romania and Bulgaria were among the most unapproachable countries of Europe to visit during the “Cold War” period. Apart from a few enthusiasts who were able to visit the area on specially organised tours, the railway activities of both countries were shrouded in mystery for many years. Both had a significant number of 76cm and 60cm gauge railways, of which sadly very few reminders have survived.
