Part Two of a detailed study documenting this fascinating and little known line which connected numerous industries in the depths of the Forest with the South Wales main line at Bullo. Generously illustrated with photographs, maps and track diagrams, this account also details the various industries served by the railway, the belated introduction of passenger services, and operational details.
Although self-contained, the two volumes of the Forest of Dean Branch complement the “Severn & Wye Railway” series. The first volume took the reader from Newnham, the junction station for passenger services, through Bullo (where the Forest of Dean branch connected with the South Wales main line), to Bilston and Cinderford. Volume Two covers the lines north of Bilson – the Churchway and Whimsey branches.
