Description
Birkenhead was in receipt of trains from Paddington several times a day in the steam era and so was considered by many to be at the end of the main line. However, it was a joint line for most of its life and the resultant variety of trains is extensively illustrated. Further diversity in rolling stock comes from the transition to diesel and then electric traction, plus the continued use of the routes by local industries.
