Description
Famed for the ‘Cathedrals Express’ in the 1950s, the route presented a stiff climb for up steam trains crossing the Cotswolds and it still offers many scenic pleasures. The great Battle of Mickleton between rival railway gangs in 1851 is recounted and today’s only branch from the line is visited. This is to Long Marston, where there have been many surprises in store.
